Dayspring Family!

Here we are at the beginning of another year! The new year brings anticipation, excitement, new goals, and a world of potential. What if I told you there is a spiritual discipline you and I can take part in which will shape our entire year? This spiritual discipline is fasting.

It is our practice at Dayspring to take 21 days at the beginning of the year and dedicate ourselves to prayer and fasting to see God move in our lives, our church, our community, and our world. Over the past couple of years, we have seen miracles, witnessed salvations, met babies we have prayed for, and seen some incredible breakthroughs. How? You might ask. The answer is prayer and fasting.

Three items Jesus taught on most during His earthly ministry were prayer, giving, and fasting. These are three areas followers of Jesus continue to struggle. Why is this? I believe these three areas are three pillars that make up trust, faith, and power. When we walk out what Jesus taught in these three areas, we are positioned to see some incredible things. I would say even Greater Things!

Greater Things is our theme for these 21 days of prayer and fasting. We have seen God do some great things and we are believing God will do even Greater Things! In Mark 9, Jesus’ disciples are engaged with a boy who has a demonic spirit. The demonic spirit is hurting the boy, causing him to be locked and not walk in freedom, unable to speak, and unable to hear. Jesus says to his flustered disciples in Mark 9:29, “This kind can be cast out only by prayer and fasting.”

This boy sounds a lot like the world we live. The enemy has people locked up unable to walk in freedom. People are hurting themselves and others. Some can’t speak the truth and most can’t (won’t) hear the truth. What are we to do- fret and worry? Absolutely not! We must remember that these things can only be dealt with in prayer and fasting.

What we do in the next 21 days has eternal consequence. Ready yourself and let’s see God release Greater Things!

Remember we are not waiting on a move of God, we ARE a move of God!
