Deuteronomy 31:8 (NLT)
“Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
There is a huge difference between being willing and being able. Someone’s willingness might not be trusted if their ability doesn’t line up. I am willing to give you one million dollars, I would love to. However, I am not able to do so. In Deuteronomy 31 God says, “I will personally go ahead of you.” Not only is God willing to go ahead of you but He is also able. Because God goes before you in your decisions, in your relationships, in your evangelism, there is no reason to be afraid or discouraged.
Discouraged means misplaced courage. The reality is when we walk discouraged we have displaced our courage, most likely because we have changed our focus. Let me encourage (put courage on) you with this: God promises to go before you. Let Him. Keep your eyes on Him. Put your courage in His ability.
Today’s Promise: God goes before me so I do not need to be afraid or discouraged.
