Day 3
I rarely, if ever, skip meals. My body craves every variety of food known to mankind! It sustains, refuels, energizes, and equips me for each day. And yes, it brings much joy to me! With the exception of fasting, I do not deny myself the pleasure of eating, as I am fully aware of the amazing benefits. I believe my inner man needs that same “daily fuel,” and it also has incredible benefits. My faith is built up by a steady diet of God’s Word. A former pastor once said, “Simple is strong,” which can apply to many areas, including architecture, music, art, design, and even Scripture. Romans 10:17 SIMPLY states where faith comes from… The Word! Acquiring faith through Scripture is a simple but strong truth!
If I’m going to remember something, I almost always have to hear it or read it multiple times. There are many ways to have The Word reinforced in your heart. For me, starting the day with ANY reference to God’s Word is a “jumpstart.” I must also prioritize Scripture over TV, Facebook, and online shopping. While reading The Word, it’s important to focus and REALLY read it. It actually helps me to read aloud, saying God’s word with feeling and expression. There are also a lot of songs straight from Scripture that help me memorize powerful verses of the Bible. Becoming familiar with Scripture helps me to pray His Word over people and situations. Meditating on Bible passages allows the word of God to grow in my heart, resulting in my faith being strengthened. As believers, we need to study the Word and be “doers of the Word.” Studying with other believers can provide insight and encouragement, too. There are no counterfeits or shortcuts to Faith. We can’t claim it by “being good” or through church attendance. It only comes through the Word of God.
In summary, we don’t need to try and “get faith.” All we need to do is get God‘s Word in our hearts—-it carries faith in it. As God‘s word enters your heart and dwells richly inside of you, FAITH will spring forth like a giant!
