Day 10
2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV: “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
Have you ever heard the phrase, “God qualifies the called?” This phrase does not necessarily appear word for word in Scripture. However, we can see example after example of this in His Word. The Lord selected individuals who did not possess special qualities or positions, and they were required to believe in the call placed upon their lives, persevere through the journey and trials set before them, seek Him, aim to obey His voice along the way, and believe that God would direct their steps and missteps.
Just look at one example. David was anointed as king when he was a young shepherd boy. Undoubtedly, his encounters with the bear and lion while protecting his sheep prepared him for Goliath. His battle with Goliath prepared the way for him to help lead Saul’s army. His deep dependence on God during the days he was on the run from Saul prepared him to lead compassionately, even the outcasts, and with wholehearted devotion unto the Lord. David was called, and as he pursued the Lord, God brought a journey that prepared him for his call to be king. He may have misstepped. He may have had moments of doubt about his call. However, the Lord shaped and molded him through every success and trial to ultimately take him to the palace where he would lead the Israelites through victory after victory, such that God’s people were able to enjoy peace and prosperity in their Promised Land.
Two important truths from 2 Corinthians 9:8:
1. God has blessed us and will bless us, not slightly, but abundantly.
2. We will always have everything we need to do the very work we were called to do.
Reflection
Has God revealed to you what good works you are destined for through His Word and Spirit? What confirmation have you received? Do not be afraid to take each baby step or maybe even large leaps of faith for the path He has set before you. He will absolutely get you to the very calling that is upon your life, step by step.
