Day 3: The Word of God
Luke 4:4
But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’”
Bread is so good. There is something about freshly baked bread with some warm butter that cannot be passed up. In fact, when the bread is baking the smell fills and changes the environment. When Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days praying and fasting the devil showed up to tempt Him away from His mission. The Devil told Jesus to take the rock and turn it into a loaf of bread. This would have been an easy thing for Jesus to do and possibly justify but it would only satisfy His flesh. Even though Jesus was physically hungry He was spiritually content. Hunger pains come and go but spiritual emptiness lingers. Are you depending on God’s word, God’s promises, God’s ways; or is there a craving to feed the flesh? We don’t live by bread alone but by every word of God. His word can be trusted and will fulfill you.
